A-G Cord
Students who have met all requirements to attend a UC or Cal State school receive a white cord to signify this accomplishment.
SUPERINTENDENT'S HONOR ROLL
This honor is presented to the highest achieving seniors. In order to be awarded, a student must have no grade less than an A- in any course during freshman, sophomore, and junior years (straight A's for grades 9-11). These seniors wear a multi-color cord at the graduation ceremony.
CUM LAUDE SOCIETY
Cum Laude (Latin for "with praise") recognizes students who have maintained high grades in a rigorous college preparatory program. The Cum Laude Society recognizes seniors who have maintained a 3.5 cumulative GPA through seven semesters of their high school program. Members of the Society will have their names noted on the commencement program, will have Cum Laude printed on their diploma and transcript, and will receive a special cord and certificate at the annual Senior Awards Ceremony. The members also select the graduation speaker.
STATE SEAL OF BILITERACY
The Seal of Biliteracy is an award given to students who have studied and attained proficiency in English and one other language by high school graduation. Students must meet GPA, state testing, and language class participation to qualify. This award is to help students recognize the value of their academic success and see the tangible benefits of being bilingual. These seniors wear an orange and black braided cord and receive a special seal on their diploma.
NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY
The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to encourage and recognize student excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, character, and service. Membership is by invitation only to sophomores, juniors and seniors who meet a minimum GPA requirement and can provide verification of community service each semester, following promotion from eighth grade. NHS Senior members are distinguished for their accomplishments by wearing a white NHS stole.
CALIFORNIA SCHOLARSHIP FEDERATION
The California Scholarship Federation (CSF) supports and encourages academic excellence for students during their sophomore, junior, and senior years. Students are eligible to qualify beginning with their first semester. Applications are available from the advisor. Those seniors who have qualified for all six (6) semesters by the end of their senior year will wear a gold stole.
CAASPP PERFORMANCE
Students who earn a "Standard Exceeded" (4) score on either/both the Math or English portion of the 11th grade SBAC state tests will earn a green cord to wear at graduation.
CAREER PATHWAYS
Students who complete a career pathway (300+ hours or 2 years of coursework) and earn a C- or better in the capstone course will be eligible for a purple braided cord.
PRESIDENTIAL AWARDS
The Presidential Award for Educational Excellence (gold braided cord with black medallion and gold/black pin) is given to students who have earned a 4.0 GPA or higher and a score of 4 on both the ELA and math CAASPP exams. The Presidential Award for Educational Achievement (gold/white pin) is given to students who earned a 3.5 GPA and scores of 3 and 4 on the ELA and math CAASPP exams.
