Principal's Message

Christina Martinez, Principal
Dear Parents and Students,

Thank you for a strong start to the 2020-2021 school year! We are almost half-way through the first quarter and I want to encourage you to keep pushing forward. While we are in a distance learning format, and even when we transition to a hybrid model, we will continue to encounter new challenges, develop new skills, and amaze ourselves as we develop our expertise in navigating this digital world we find ourselves in. Thank you for your persistence and your patience.

Tigers, no matter the format—virtual or in person—attendance is critical to your success. Make sure that you are following the bell schedule, attending your Zoom meetings on your designated days, participating in class discussions with your cameras on, and turning in your assignments on time.

Another key to success is communication. Especially while we are in a distance learning format, it is easy to lose touch and fall behind. Your Chaffey Family is here to help you stay connected and provide you with the resources you need to be successful. Please make sure that you are using our 3 primary technology platforms—Outlook, Canvas, and Zoom. Check the “Resources” tab on our school website for information about technology support, mental health services, and more. CHS continues to offer extended learning opportunities. Please communicate with your teachers about when they are hosting office hours and any tutoring opportunities that are available to you. Lastly, please check my Principal’s Communication course for regular emails and announcements about school events. We’ve got your back, Tigers!

This school year we remain focused on preparing students for college and career. Please refer to the CA Dashboard to see our school's accomplishments in regards to college and career readiness, graduation,  and A-G completion.
Last year, 72.7% of our seniors completed their A-G requirements and were eligible for admission to a 4- year college. This is amazing! Our data is showing us that Chaffey Tigers graduate ready for the next level and with a variety of post-secondary options.

Parents and guardians, I look forward to meeting with you at our Virtual Coffee with the Principal meetings. This is my chance to share school news and to hear your feedback. The first Coffee with the Principal will be on Wednesday, September 9, via Zoom. Please check the Parent Resources tab for details and a link to our meeting. You can also follow me on Twitter @ChafeyHSTigers for up-to-date information on school events and parent engagement opportunities.

I look forward to partnering with you to make this our best year ever!

Go Tigers,

Christina Martinez
