Principal's Message

Christina Martinez, Principal
Chaffey Students and Families,
I’m looking forward to the opportunity to have students back on campus soon! As you have heard from my recent communications, San Bernardino County is approaching the Red Tier for its COVID metrics, which will allow high schools to reopen for in-person hybrid instruction. In-Person Hybrid Instruction will begin on either April 13th or April 14th, depending on students’ schedules. Students will have a choice to either begin, in-person hybrid (physically attending twice per week) or remain in Distance Learning for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year. For students who select to continue distance learning, they will remain at home but follow the Hybrid Instruction schedule (for more information, please click the Reopening Schools Update tab).
As we enter the 4th quarter, I want to encourage ALL students to finish strong. You have worked hard during distance learning and I am proud of what you have accomplished despite the challenges you have faced. We are also approaching the academic testing season which includes the administration of the CAASPP, ELPAC, and AP Exams. We recognize the significant impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on student learning and simply encourage our students to do the best that they can. At this time, it is unknown how student achievement data will be reported and analyzed due to the suspension of the CA Dashboard in 2020.
Our Spring sports season is underway!  For the first time since school closed last March, several of our athletic teams are back out in the field and ready to compete. CHS Cross-Country, Football, Tennis, and Water Polo have begun practicing and have a schedule of competitions lined up! Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Soccer, Golf, Swim, Wrestling, and Track & Field are coming soon. Please explore our website for the latest news regarding Athletics. In addition, our Band is back and practicing. It’s been amazing to hear our students playing their instruments in the quad again. It has literally been music to my ears!
Tigers, I encourage you to continue to do your personal best. Whether you remain in distance learning or return in-person for hybrid instruction, strive to stay on track to meet the A-G requirements and other academic goals you set for yourself. Most importantly, make time to take care of your mental and emotional health. If you need help, please call the school so that we can connect you to the resources we have.
The Chaffey High School staff loves and misses you! Let us know how we can help.
Go Tigers!
Christina Martinez
